Queensferry Ambition - Building Business and Bridging the Community

As a resident and a business owner in Queensferry I feel very strongly that we should maximise our full potential to make Queensferry a flourishing and vibrant community.
We have in our trust one of the most iconic towns in Scotland if not the world and yet the report card comes back with a resounding “Must do Better”.
Let me put it another way, at the moment we say
“We have two, soon to be three bridges. You need to come and see them.”
People do, and then they go away.
What we should be saying
“We have a great thriving town, rich in history, full of lovely places to eat, a great shopping experience, a Marina, beautiful walks, boat tours on the Forth...  oh and by the way not only that but we have the greatest views of the most iconic bridges in the world”, this is the vision we as Queensferry Ambition aspire to.
The vehicle for Queensferry to thrive, grow and prosper as a destination is to use the mechanism of the Business Improvement District (BID) and with your support we will make Queensferry not only thrive for retail, hospitality and tourism, we will make sure all businesses succeed with their growth plans in order to secure their long term futures.
It is only in this environment that we can do better and secure not only our future, but future employment for the people of the community and our children.
This is your opportunity to make a difference, make sure we don’t miss out and Vote Yes June 2012.

Queensferry Ambition Business Plan 2012 -2017

The Vision for the Queensferry BID is to be the destination of choice where people enjoy visiting, working, shopping, investing and living during the day and night time.
In order to do this, a Business Improvement District (BID) has been proposed for the area.
A BID is a business led initiative which gives local organisations the power to raise funds locally to be spent locally, with the aim of improving their own trading environment. It is an investment scheme where local businesses have the opportunity to say how their money should be invested to benefit themselves, their employees, customers and clients.

Lots of sponsorship opportunities for Queensferry businesses at this year’s Hopetoun Horse Trials.

Lots of sponsorship opportunities for Queensferry businesses at this year’s Hopetoun Horse Trials.

Earl of Hopetoun says “whilst we see it as Hopetoun’s flagship event, we are only too conscious that it is the involvement of our sponsors, partners and businesses that make it a successful weekend. I would therefore ask you, if you participated last year, to come back and help us to grow the event: if you weren’t here last year, do please come along and be involved this year”

Opportunities include:
• Corporate/Staff hospitality - Hopetoun House is opened exclusively for hospitality on the day of event
• Arena and fence branding - numerous opportunities for high visibility branding
• Trade stand space - bespoke spaces available or be part of the up-market retail, leisure and catering areas.
• Local and regional publicity - the inaugural event gained a huge amount of UK coverage across both specialist and mainstream press.
• Website/Programme advertising - the Horse Trials page on Hopetoun.co.uk has had over 20,000 unique visitors since June 2011.
• Profile building and brand exposure amongst your target audience

The Horse Trails will take place 27th – 29th July. If you are interested please contact Stuart Buntie on 0131 319 3940 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

LOCAL Tae Kwon Do stars made their mark representing Scotland at the European championships in Slovenia.

Three students at the South Queensferry School of Tae Kwon Do run by Julia Cross competed against 28 other countries to get on the medals table.

Rheannan Brown (17), 1st degree, won bronze in the junior female power breaking team and Michael McRoberts (14) won bronze in the junior boys’ patterns team, getting put out in the semi-finals by the eventual winners, Germany.

He was also narrowly beaten by Russia in the junior 52kg sparring.

Gilles Brown (19), 2nd degree, was put out in the second round of -80kg sparring by Tim Kool from Holland, a more experienced fighter.

Julia praised all her pupils adding: “They have all shown so much improvement over the last six months and the future for them all in the international circuit is very bright.”
